Welcome!
Here’s a little bit about me….
Born and raised in Utah, I went to college and majored in elementary education with a reading and special education endoresement. In 2000, I received my masters in school counseling, I’ve spent a over 10 years as an elementary classroom teacher, 10 years as a school counselor and I’m now a special education teacher. Working in the field of education helped me along the way as I raised 3 very differnt kids, especially my autistic son.
I come from a family of educators. I didn’t grow up wanting to be a teacher, someone steered me in that direction when I was in college. When I started college, I wanted to be a nurse.
I taught 4 years before becoming a mother. I stayed part-time in the profession while I was raising my young children. It was important to me to have a balanced life as I continued to ustilize my education and training.
I’ve been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life. In 1993, I was married to my husband in the Salt Lake Temple. We raised our kids in the church and continue to be involved in various church activities.
I love reading blogs, articles and personal perspectives posted online and have done so for many years. I used to host a teacher blog and connected with many teachers all over the world. But, there’s more to life than just teaching.
My life has been a long journey and I have learned so much along the way. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but have learned from those mistakes. Now, more than ever, it’s time to move forward.
Living a healthy lifestyle, maintaing good mental health, baking, cooking, traveling, enjoying the holidays are all part of maintaing my sanity. Stick around as I share a little bit of this and a little bit of that!
